Alex and Emily: above the lake
The sun shone, smiles glistened and the couple could not be happier. Alex and Emily’s outdoor wedding at the beautiful Legends Estate Winery could have not been better for the two of them!
My morning started off at the home of Emily’s parents. The dresses were all lined up along the window as I approached the front door. Once inside I was warmly greeted by Emily and her family!
There was speeches being printed off, Starbucks being delivered and of course hair and makeup prep happening. It was a busy house. All of the flowers for the day were designed and arranged by Emily’s mother. The flower requests were made by Emily at a very young age. Her mom wrote them down so that one day she could use them at Emily’s wedding. Such an awesome story!
I soon headed over to see Alex who was at his parent’s beautifully restored home. I spent a few minutes with the guys photographing as they finished their preparations for the day. We made plans for how the first look would go down and I then sped off (not really speeding just the word I chose; relax!).
Emily and her girls were nearly ready to go upon my arrival. Once Emily’s dress was done up and the last details were taken care of we headed off to Port Dalhousie. The couple first saw each other at the iconic barn of Port. It served as an awesome spot to shoot a large portion of our photos for the day. From there we made the short drive to Balls Falls Conservation area.
Alex and Emily were quite adventurous making a moderately treacherous hike down to one of many waterfalls in the area. They and their group of bridesmaids and groomsmen were just a delight to work with. So much fun!
Our final destination for the day was the winery. The gorgeous grounds on the bluffs above Lake Ontario are a perfect spot to have a wedding. Directly after the ceremony the bride and groom along with their guests were served ice cream and wine. We took a few more minutes for a several more photos and their family session before they were seated for the reception. Legends Estate’s tent housed the remainder of the evening. We took several breaks in between courses to walk around the grounds to admire the mid-summer’s setting sun and even managed to grab a few more photos.
After speeches were completed first dances were shared and then the party started! Derek Elliotson was the DJ for the evening. A great service, fantastic music and a very nice light display.
Emily and Alex, wish you two nothing but the best! Congratulations.
