Mark and Ellery: a “sunrise” shoot
Sometimes you scout out locations, you plan your shoot, you execute and it turns out exactly as you think it should....and others well you get Mark and Ellery’s engagement shoot.
Mark is one of the video geniuses behind the wedding videos you have seen on my website. He’s also been a friend of mine for quite a while! I was thrilled when he asked for me to photograph their wedding and subsequently their engagement photos!
Time was running short in the season to get Mark and Ellery’s engagement shoot done. So we set a plan in motion for a beautiful sunrise shoot high above sand dunes overlooking Lake Erie. Sounds perfect right?
The morning of the shoot my alarm went off a little earlier than it usually does.... Ok a lot earlier. The weather was looking less than ideal. After a quick phone call with Mark we decided that the shoot would go on.
The conditions slowly worsened as we got closer to Sherkston Shores Beach Resort.
By the time we were out by the water, the storm was just about in full force.
Given the amount of dark storm clouds above us, getting that classic sunrise look was pretty much out of the question. So now it was time to deviate from our original plan and make some magic happen on the fly!
We shot for a while out on the shore and finally decided we needed something with a lot less rain, wind and cold. So we spun over to one of my favorite spots in Port Colborne, Bremfields! (seriously if you haven’t been to this place... GO! you will not be disappointed.)
We finished off the shoot over some tea and coffee at this wonderful spot. I can’t wait to share Mark and Ellery’s wedding photos. But until then Have a look at these selections from their engagement shoot.
